Team & role overview

As our new backend engineer you will become part og our Product department, which is structured around three core teams: Activation, Wishing Experience, and Personalization. Each product team operates as a cross-functional unit consisting of a Product Manager, Product Designer, Tech Lead, and a dedicated group of backend and frontend developers. Together, we collaborate closely to design seamless, intuitive, and high-impact experiences for our users’ gifting journeys.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Own backend features and services end-to-end, from technical design to production delivery.

• Design, implement, and evolve GraphQL APIs and backend systems using JavaScript / TypeScript.

• Make sound technical decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.

• Take responsibility for code quality, readability, and correctness.

• Review pull requests critically and provide constructive feedback.

• Communicate proactively about progress, risks, and trade-offs.

• Work independently on complex tasks while staying aligned with the team.

• Integrate with internal and external APIs and manage data using SQL-based databases.

• Identify technical gaps and improvement opportunities and act on them.

• Operate effectively in a small team environment with high ownership.
